Yes, the lantern is still there, sitting in the mud, illuminating the general area of combat. But I don't see how you expect to ignite someone with a lantern. It IS an oil-burning lantern, but the way it's designed, it would be very difficult to splash the oil on the leader and then set him on fire with it.
