"Give me but a moment to pray," asks Malcolm, "so that I may ensure we will
have good fortune in our endeavors.." Turning to Greenbolt, he sadly exclaims,
"I am sorry, but cleansing someone's blood of poison is far beyond by skill.
However, I shall be able to cure wounds twice before I must pray again." He
climbs back up the hole and situates himself a few dozen yards from the
clearing, where you can see him rubbing prayer beads and chanting quietly. You
begin readying yourselves for your underground descent.

Ivan takes Malcolm's toch and uses it to light one of his own. He also decided
so bring Pep in, since he'll, in all likelyhood, behave himself, and may even
be useful in confusing enemies (running around them, etc.). When everyone is
done their preparations, armour strapped on, spells memorized, and weapons at
the ready, you order yourselves and file down into the dark passage. After
roughly fifty feet of walking, you notice the walls, floor, and ceiling are
made of stone bricks of irregular shape, and that you have come downwards
quite a bit, so much so that you can barely see the enterance. A further sixty
feet down the passage, which is still littered with puddles, Carideth spots a
door straight ahead. Fourty or so feet more and the door is clearly visible to
all in the party. The corridor ends here, at the door, which is straight ahead
of you to the north. It is a wooden door and is slightly open. The whole front
of it has a huge dent in it. It looks as if it was rammed open or kicked in by
someone very powerful. The hinges are slightly damaged but they look
well-oiled. The door is not open enough to see anything beyond it.

Shall I assume you'll inspect all doors for traps before opening, or would you
rather tell me yourself? In this case, however, it is clearly visible to
everyone in the party that the door could not possibly be trapped, and a more
expert inspection by Aardvarkin confirms this. Ivan tells everyone to stand
back, just in case, and gently kicks the door open. There is no sound as it
slowly opens.

The corridor goes on for as far as you can see. Taking a few cautious steps
forward, you can see that there are indentations in the wall to either side of
you - alcoves. The alcoves are totally empty. Just as Ivan is about to take
another step forward, you are blinded by a flash of light, and to your right
appears a scantily-clothed human female in white silk robes. She looks very
pale; almost transparent. Her hair is a silvery color, and her eyes are very
large, but she is very attractive. She speaks very quitely:

"What have we here, intruders?" Taking a step or two closer, she stares
inbetween Ivan and Carideth and adds, "Go away, adventurers. You'll find no
treasure here. Here is only death, and despair. Entering will only bring
hither the curses of Skellor and Xath unto you, and you shall die." She then
appears to draw a dagger from nowhere, raises it in the air, and stabs it into
her own chest. No scream ensues; no blood flows; no death follows. She has
disappeared.

There is no trace at all of this young woman. The alcoves are still empty, and
you see nothing strange about the walls, ceiling, or floors. Those with
infravision explain that up ahead, about fifty or sixty feet, they see another
pair of alcoves in the corridor.

I'd like to know if anyone else will be carrying a torch besides Malcolm and
Ivan? And in what hand, considering weapon use. Ivan will be unable to use his
shield properly, and Malcolm will be unable to use is quarterstaff with any
effectiveness. Right now the torchlight extends in a roughly twenty foot
radius around your party.

Also, are you holding your weapons, or are they sheathed? (mages & priests
w/quarterstaffs need not answer :) )
