First, I'll address some minor points: We are NOT on Krynn, Faerun, Toril,
Middle Earth, or any other world like that.. this world is totally new, so
that nobody will gain any advantage by reading the appropriate novels or
buying the appropriate campaign set. Any allusions to the characters or
legends of these books is either considered players' talk or
interdimensionally-known legend. None of it exists here.

And I'm ruling that demihuman night vision is just that: night vision. You
cannot see heat; you cannot see colours very well. I am operating night vision
on the same principle as this world, taking, for example, the cat: It does
not, by any means, possess the ability to "see" in the dark, but rather
expands its pupils to a maximum dilation for to allow the greatest amount of
light into its eyes. This will also be true for the campaign (thus, it is
impossible to see in TOTAL 100% darkness, though that is extremely rare and
will never occur under natural circumstances [operating on Einstein's theory
that light is particles and alot more technologically boring stuff I won't
mention here]). So no seeing tracks of heat, please.

Aardvarkin wants to know how long a cubed centimeter of soap takes to dissolve
in water.. how the hell should I know? Find out for yourself.. it's not like
it's something you can only do in a fantasy world.. :)

Finally, I have no idea who the hell has the ring - I have long since
forgotten.. if nobody remembers, I'll look it up, but you're certainly welcome
to try it on Malcolm. Shall we assume, then, that whoever has the ring places
it on Malcolm's finger and attempts to get him to say the magic word?

As for the webs, Carideth walks over and sees the spider in a crumpled heap
behind the chests. Its legs are drawn up against its body and it is not
moving. As the ranger advances a few more paces, he catches a slight hint of
movement: the beast draws up tighter and tucks its abdomen as low as possible
into the protection of its limbs.
