The middle-aged lady eagerly grasps two of the gold coins you got from selling
the weapons (and what are you to do with the rest?) and, taking a key hanging
from beside the door, she leads you over to her shop, which she unlocks and
enters. After striking some stones together a few times, she lights a few oil
lamps and the room is illuminated. The shop appears much as it did before.
"Well now, you need some sort of curative potion, eh?" she says as she hobbles
over to a large shelf with about ten potions on it. "Hmm, now which one was
which?" A smile plays across her lips, but you cannot tell whether it is from
embarrasment or from greed. "Oh, confound it! Now I've lost my list - and
they're all unlabeled! I'm afraid you're going to have to buy them all to find
out which one is which. Don't worry, they're all perfectly harmless, and
shouldn't have much of an effect on your friend. I know I had a couple of wart
removers, some alcohol, a cure for lycanthropy, this neat little potion that
changes your voice, and a cure for most of the known poisons in these parts,
among other things. But there's no way telling which is which.."
"How much-" begins Carideth, but he is cut short by the alchemist.
"Potions are one gold piece each," she snaps.
"Why don't you just make a new curing potion?" suggests Ivan.
"Make them? Ha! I only sell them. These have been lying on the shelf for years
now.. all the leftover ones nobody has wanted. I got them from some wandering
peddler several years ago. Now hurry up, as I've a right mind not to sell you
any potions at all, what with you waking me up so late and all. Quickly,
quickly! I'd like to get some sleep!"
Lying on the shelf, you can see three clear-coloured liquids, two gray ones, a
blue one, a pink one, a purple one, a yellow one, and a white one. When one of
you asks to step up to inspect the potions further, perhaps examining the
bottles and even smelling the contents, the lady gets only more agitated and
threatens to call the constable if you continue this wasting of her time.
Meanwhile, Borack and Greenbolt both attempt to touch the cat. Chester
responds quite affectionately to Borack purring and rubbing its head against
his hand, but totally ignores Greenbolt, and even disappears when the mage
makes a half-hearted attempt to pet it. However, after he withdraws his hand,
the cat once again re-appears in the same position. Fascinated, Ivan asks
Carideth to put the cat on him, but they decide against it presently, as the
alchemist is only getting more and more angry.
