(funny how Carideth talks in his sleep, eh?)

Anyways.. all goes well in the first shift. Borack and Aardvarkin
manage to keep themselves awake for as long as possible. It is impossible to
tell the time, as the whole sky is covered with dark clouds, totally obscuring
the moon and the stars. It is pitch black, and no one without the bonus of
infravision can see ten feet beyond the small campfire. Just as the watch is
changing from Borack and Aarvarkin to Carideth and Malcolm, a light drizzle
commences.
An hour or so into the second shift, the light drizzle becomes a
rather harsh rain. All of you are woken up and are forced to find some sort of
protection from the rain. However, it is nothing to worry about, as there are
enough blankets and spare clothes to cover everyone. Your only regret is
setting up camp in such a barren area; within minutes the ground has turned
into a gruel-like mud which is very comfortable to sleep on but seems to be
soiling your clothes and blankets quite severely.
Nevertheless, everyone manages to get a decent level of sleep until
the changing of the guard. After what seems like an eternity of coldness and
dampness, Carideth and Malcolm eagerly turn in shortly after waking Ivan and
Ruinad. The rain has not yet ceased, and it is still quite dark out. There is
little for them to do but sit and listen to the rain falling unseen around
them.
It is but at most fifteen minutes into the third shift when Ruinad's
keen sense of hearing detects voices coming from the north, accompanied by
several brushed bushes and snapped twigs. After a few more moments of
listening, he is able to definetely ascertain that it is a group of men making
way towards the camp. Quickly, he and Ivan alert the rest of you. You barely
manage to arouse yourself, quickly strap on some armor, and take out your
weapons when those of you with infravision spot a dozen or so armoured men
about fifty feet away, and closing in, fast.
One of the men shouts to his comrades, "There it is! Their camp!" and
presently the whole troupe charges in your direction. All of you can hear
steel clanging and whips cracking as they make their way to your position.
Quickly, you take up arms and prepare to defend yourselves.
Ivan curses rather loudly. "It's the slavers!" he yells. "Do not spare
ANY of them!" With that, he rushes forward, drussus in hand, prepared to hack
of the head of any enemy he comes in contact with.

OK, what are you people doing? Please note that if you do not have
infravision, your attacks will be penalized because of the darkness, even more
so if you attempt any special attack.

Malcolm takes up a defensive position near the rear, weaponless for
the moment. He seems to be mumbling something under his breath.

Ruinad moves up front, quarterstaff in hand, and attacks the first
person he comes in contact with.

        Ivan does the same.
