I wouldn't worry about wasting a spell on it.  After all, it *is* 'benign'
(which only means we haven't seen it attack anything but itself yet....).

Yeah.  Bad idea is right!  's a good thing there are mages in the party as I
hear thiev...sorry.....'ACQUISITIONERS' sometimes ain't too bright. :)
